Hyper has officially changed its English name to Hyptec, saying the move is part of its brand value upgrade to 2.0.

Hyper, a sub-brand of GAC Aion, has adopted a new English name as part of its brand upgrade.

Hyper announced today that it has officially changed its English name to Hyptec, saying the move is part of its brand value upgrade to 2.0.

Hyp is derived from Hyper, Hyper Car, and Tec is derived from Technology, the GAC Aion sub-brand said today.

Hyptec's new brand slogan is Hyper Technology Life, it said.

Hyptec will next have a series of technology launches to advance its internationalization efforts, the brand said.

GAC Aion unveiled the Hyper brand in September 2022 and gave its first model, the 2-seater Hyper SSR, a debut.

On October 9, 2023, Hyper officially launched the Hyper SSR with three variants, starting at RMB 1.286 million ($180,330), RMB 1.386 million and RMB 1.686 million respectively. Deliveries of the model began in China at the time of its launch.

Hyper announced on August 1 that it saw the overseas version of the Hyper SSR roll off the production line, saying that the brand's English name would soon change to Hyptec.

Deliveries of the overseas version of the Hyper SSR are expected to begin later this month in Southeast Asia, it said on August 1.

Hyper plans to showcase the Hyper SSR at the Paris auto show, which will be held in October, and will make the model available in the Middle East, South America, and Europe in the future.

In addition to the Hyper SSR, Hyper's other available models include the Hyper GT sedan, and the Hyper HT SUV (sport utility vehicle).

In July, GAC Aion sold 35,238 vehicles, a decrease of 21.74 percent year-on-year and essentially flat from 35,027 in June, according to data it released on August 1.

In the January-July period, GAC Aion sold 212,604 vehicles, down 16.42 percent year-on-year.

GAC Aion did not release sales figures for the Hyper.
