Spotify (SPOT.N) will update its app on Apple (AAPL.O) devices within the European Union on Wednesday, incorporating the prices of its various plans and services. This comes more than three months after Apple initially rejected the move. The rejection was linked to Spotify's refusal to comply with Apple's newly introduced Music Streaming Services Entitlement, which outlines how streaming apps in the European Economic Area should inform users about alternative purchasing methods.

The Swedish audio streaming company has now agreed to the new terms but stated that its iOS app would still not include an external link for purchases, as it aims to avoid paying Apple a commission on such transactions. Apple previously clarified that accepting its music streaming terms does not require an external payment link.

Spotify commented, "While this marks progress, it is merely a small step in the lengthy process of providing iPhone users with the basic product experiences they expect and deserve from their apps."

Apple had eased communication restrictions for music streaming apps on iOS devices within the EU in early April. This change came a month after the company was fined 1.84 billion euros ($2 billion) by Brussels for stifling competition from rival music streaming services through App Store limitations. Apple has not yet responded to Reuters' request for comment.
