Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on the private sector, especially companies with substantial profits, to reassess their salary schemes to offer more reasonable compensation to their employees.

Anwar highlighted that the recent public sector salary reform should serve as a signal to private companies to increase workers' wages, aiming to ease the burden of living costs.

"The private sector should take into account the minimum wage for public servants, which is above RM2,000. I hope that they will review their salary structures to lessen the pressure on workers, particularly in companies that are making significant profits. There is no justification for salaries to be below RM2,000," Anwar stated.

He made these comments after the 19th Premier Public Service Message Ceremony (MAPPA), themed 'MADANI Public Service,' held here today.

The Prime Minister also underscored that the recent salary increase for public servants is not only a recognition of their service but also an initiative to enhance performance. He noted that the raise is part of a broader, radical transformation focused on accountability and performance, moving away from the traditional time-based approach.
