BYD Launches 2025 Han Sedan With Lower Prices and Upgraded Specs

BYD rolled out the 2025 Han sedan, with the hybrid Han DM-i upgraded to the DM 5.0 system and the pure electric Han EV upgraded to the 800 V high-voltage architecture.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched a refreshed version of its flagship sedan, the Han, bringing lower prices and better specs, as well as a LiDAR option for the first time on the model.

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker rolled out the 2025 Han at a launch event today, offering battery electric vehicle (BEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants, just like its predecessor.

The hybrid Han DM-i is priced lower than its predecessor across the board, with a starting price of RMB 165,800 ($23,300), down RMB 4,000, or 2.36 percent, from RMB 169,800 for the previous Han DM-i Glory Edition.

The starting price of the all-electric Han EV remains unchanged at RMB 179,800, but all other variants of the BEV model are priced lower.

Originally launched in July 2020, the Han is BYD's flagship sedan and has received several major updates over the past four years.

The sedan's last update came on February 28 this year, when BYD launched the Han Glory Edition at a starting price of RMB 169,800, RMB 20,000 lower than its predecessor.

The Han is a mid-to-large-size sedan, and the 2025 Han -- including BEV and PHEV variants – both measures 4,995 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm.

The 2025 Han DM-i is based on BYD's latest DM 5.0 hybrid technology and comes standard with a plug-in-specific 1.5Ti engine with the EHS200 electric hybrid system.

The engine has a thermal efficiency of 45.3 percent, BYD said, adding that the hybrid consumes 3.8 L per 100 kilometers on low battery charge, which is even lower than a small conventional fuel car.

The Han family sold 17,029 vehicles in August, down 25.18 percent year-on-year and 5.67 percent from July, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
