September 13, 2024 - $Uber Technologies (UBER.US)$ shares jumped 5.18% to $71.62 on Friday. The company and Waymo LLC announced an expansion of their existing partnership to make the Waymo Driver available to more people via Uber.

$Uber Technologies (UBER.US)$ and Waymo are expanding their partnership to introduce autonomous ride-hailing services in Austin and Atlanta through the Uber app starting in early 2025. Waymo's fully autonomous, electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles will be managed and dispatched by Uber, with the fleet expected to grow over time to hundreds of vehicles.

Riders using UberX, Uber Green, Uber Comfort, or Uber Comfort Electric may be matched with a Waymo vehicle for eligible trips. Uber will handle fleet management tasks such as vehicle maintenance, while Waymo will oversee the testing and operation of the autonomous Waymo Driver. Both companies aim to bring the benefits of fully autonomous driving to more riders in these cities, building on the success of their previous collaboration in Phoenix.
