The new drama series is the latest sequel to two previous productions: "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty" (唐朝诡事录) and "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 2: To the West" (唐朝诡事录之西行). G.H.Y Culture & Media unit, Tianjin Changxin Film & Media, has entered into a co-production agreement with iQIYI Inc.

Under the agreement, the two parties will co-produce a web drama series titled "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 3: Chang'an" (唐朝诡事录之长安). Filming is scheduled to begin in October 2024, with the production expected to be completed and handed over in 2025.
