Possible Bearish Signals With Entegris Insiders Disposing Stock
Possible Bearish Signals With Entegris Insiders Disposing Stock
Many Entegris, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENTG) insiders ditched their stock over the past year, which may be of interest to the company's shareholders. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more beneficial than knowing whether they are selling, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Entegris
In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Senior VP & President of Materials Solutions, Daniel Woodland, sold US$1.3m worth of shares at a price of US$140 per share. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$105). So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Insider Ownership
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Entegris insiders own 0.5% of the company, worth about US$72m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
So What Do The Entegris Insider Transactions Indicate?
It doesn't really mean much that no insider has traded Entegris shares in the last quarter. We don't take much encouragement from the transactions by Entegris insiders. But it's good to see that insiders own shares in the company. So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it's also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company. Case in point: We've spotted 2 warning signs for Entegris you should be aware of, and 1 of them is concerning.
