Sabre Insiders Added US$588.1k Of Stock To Their Holdings
Sabre Insiders Added US$588.1k Of Stock To Their Holdings
Generally, when a single insider buys stock, it is usually not a big deal. However, when several insiders are buying, like in the case of Sabre Corporation (NASDAQ:SABR), it sends a favourable message to the company's shareholders.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Sabre
The CEO, President & Director Kurt Ekert made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$167k worth of shares at a price of US$2.57 each. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$3.44), we still think insider buying is a positive. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.
Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid US$588k for 205.30k shares. But insiders sold 10.00k shares worth US$28k. In total, Sabre insiders bought more than they sold over the last year. They paid about US$2.86 on average. To my mind it is good that insiders have invested their own money in the company. However, we do note that they were buying at significantly lower prices than today's share price. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insiders At Sabre Have Bought Stock Recently
We saw some Sabre insider buying shares in the last three months. Independent Non-Executive Chairman Gail Mandel shelled out US$36k for shares in that time. We like it when there are only buyers, and no sellers. But in this case the amount purchased means the recent transaction may not be very meaningful on its own.
Insider Ownership
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Sabre insiders own about US$13m worth of shares. That equates to 1.0% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Sabre Insiders?
We note a that there has been a bit of insider buying recently (but no selling). The net investment is not enough to encourage us much. However, our analysis of transactions over the last year is heartening. Insiders own shares in Sabre and we see no evidence to suggest they are worried about the future. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. At Simply Wall St, we found 1 warning sign for Sabre that deserve your attention before buying any shares.
