Zurich Could Raise Its Dividend After Strong Earnings -- Market Talk
0651 GMT - Zurich Insurance's earnings trends could mean an increase to its dividend for 2021, Berenberg says. The Swiss insurer said at its 1H conference call that it was one of the strongest half-yearly results it had reported, according to Berenberg. Zurich's life business operating profit was 43% ahead of 1H 2020, with more growth to come in 2H, and nonlife premium growth is expected to rise to 10% in 2021, Berenberg says. Natural catastrophe claims in 2021 are capped by strong reinsurance coverage at 5% in terms of combined ratio, important after the high level of catastrophes, the brokerage says. The trends are very positive and sustainable, Berenberg says, which ticks up its dividend forecast for 2021 to CHF23 from CHF22, 15% above 2020's CHF20. Zurich reviews its dividend in December.
