Insider Buyers At Acelyrin Likely Disappointed With 11% Slide

Acelyrinの内部購入者は11%の下落に失望した可能性が高い

Simply Wall St ·  2023/11/06 12:04

The recent price decline of 11% in Acelyrin, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:SLRN) stock may have disappointed insiders who bought US$2.65m worth of shares at an average price of US$18.00 in the past 12 months. Insiders buy with the expectation to see their investments rise in value over a period of time. However, recent losses have rendered their above investment worth US$1.35m which is not ideal.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Acelyrin Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director Beth Seidenberg bought US$1.1m worth of shares at a price of US$18.00 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$9.13 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

Insider Ownership Of Acelyrin

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Insiders own 2.5% of Acelyrin shares, worth about US$22m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
