Singapore shares finished marginally higher on Wednesday, following overnight gains in global markets.
During the day, the benchmark Singapore Strait Times Index ranged between 3,174.13 and 3,188.06, ending 0.12% or 3.93 points higher at 3,177.48.
In economic news, Singapore Exchange-listed firms delivered a 0.4% year-over-year growth in earnings for the fourth quarter ended December 2023.
Meanwhile, rental volumes for HDB flats and private condominiums fell 19.1% and 21% month over month, respectively, in February, largely due to weak hiring sentiments.
In company news, Top Glove's (SGX:BVA, KLSE:TOPGLOV) shares closed 8.9% higher after the company narrowed its attributable loss for the fiscal second quarter ended Feb. 29 to 51.2 million ringgit.
Lonza Group (SGX:O6Z) agreed to acquire the Genentech manufacturing facility in Vacaville, US, from multinational healthcare company Roche for $1.2 billion.
