Malaysian shares ended in the green zone on Friday after a volatile trading session. The investors remained upbeat, shrugging off the mixed sentiment on Wall Street overnight.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, the main gauge of Malaysian stocks, gained 5.47 points to end 0.36% higher at 1,536.07. The day ranged between 1,532.03 and 1,542.00.
In economic news, Malaysia's official reserve assets stood at $114.28 billion as at end-February 2024, according to the Friday press release by Bank Negara Malaysia. Meanwhile, other foreign currency assets amounted to $202.7 million.
In the next 12 months, the foreign currency inflows are forecasted to reach $2.46 billion, the central bank noted.
In corporate news, shares of the dairy products maker Dutch Lady Milk Industries (KLSE:DLADY) jumped nearly 10% and those of the property developer Crescendo (KLSE:CRESNDO) rose about 8% today.
Meanwhile, shares of the jewelry company Tomei Consolidated (KLSE:TOMEI) gained 6% on Friday's close.
