TruBridge, Inc. (NASDAQ:TBRG) Shares Fly 27% But Investors Aren't Buying For Growth

TruBridge、Inc.(ナスダック:TBRG)の株式が27%上昇しましたが、投資家は成長のために買っていません。

TruBridge, Inc. (NASDAQ:TBRG) shareholders would be excited to see that the share price has had a great month, posting a 27% gain and recovering from prior weakness. Still, the 30-day jump doesn't change the fact that longer term shareholders have seen their stock decimated by the 59% share price drop in the last twelve months.

Even after such a large jump in price, TruBridge may still look like a strong buying opportunity at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.4x, considering almost half of all companies in the Healthcare Services industry in the United States have P/S ratios greater than 2.5x and even P/S higher than 5x aren't out of the ordinary. However, the P/S might be quite low for a reason and it requires further investigation to determine if it's justified.

How Has TruBridge Performed Recently?

With revenue growth that's inferior to most other companies of late, TruBridge has been relatively sluggish. Perhaps the market is expecting the current trend of poor revenue growth to continue, which has kept the P/S suppressed. If this is the case, then existing shareholders will probably struggle to get excited about the future direction of the share price.

Is There Any Revenue Growth Forecasted For TruBridge?

The only time you'd be truly comfortable seeing a P/S as depressed as TruBridge's is when the company's growth is on track to lag the industry decidedly.

Taking a look back first, we see that there was hardly any revenue growth to speak of for the company over the past year. Still, the latest three year period was better as it's delivered a decent 28% overall rise in revenue. Accordingly, shareholders probably wouldn't have been overly satisfied with the unstable medium-term growth rates.

Turning to the outlook, the next year should generate growth of 1.9% as estimated by the four analysts watching the company. That's shaping up to be materially lower than the 12% growth forecast for the broader industry.

With this information, we can see why TruBridge is trading at a P/S lower than the industry. Apparently many shareholders weren't comfortable holding on while the company is potentially eyeing a less prosperous future.

The Final Word

Even after such a strong price move, TruBridge's P/S still trails the rest of the industry. Using the price-to-sales ratio alone to determine if you should sell your stock isn't sensible, however it can be a practical guide to the company's future prospects.

As expected, our analysis of TruBridge's analyst forecasts confirms that the company's underwhelming revenue outlook is a major contributor to its low P/S. At this stage investors feel the potential for an improvement in revenue isn't great enough to justify a higher P/S ratio. Unless these conditions improve, they will continue to form a barrier for the share price around these levels.
