Even With A 32% Surge, Cautious Investors Are Not Rewarding Aerosun Corporation's (SHSE:600501) Performance Completely

32%の急騰があったとしても、慎重な投資家はAerosun Corporation(SHSE:600501)のパフォーマンスを完全に評価していません。

Aerosun Corporation (SHSE:600501) shareholders have had their patience rewarded with a 32% share price jump in the last month. Unfortunately, despite the strong performance over the last month, the full year gain of 6.1% isn't as attractive.

Even after such a large jump in price, Aerosun may still be sending bullish signals at the moment with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 1.8x, since almost half of all companies in the Machinery industry in China have P/S ratios greater than 2.6x and even P/S higher than 5x are not unusual. However, the P/S might be low for a reason and it requires further investigation to determine if it's justified.

What Does Aerosun's P/S Mean For Shareholders?

Aerosun could be doing better as its revenue has been going backwards lately while most other companies have been seeing positive revenue growth. It seems that many are expecting the poor revenue performance to persist, which has repressed the P/S ratio. If you still like the company, you'd be hoping this isn't the case so that you could potentially pick up some stock while it's out of favour.

Keen to find out how analysts think Aerosun's future stacks up against the industry? In that case, our free report is a great place to start.

What Are Revenue Growth Metrics Telling Us About The Low P/S?

There's an inherent assumption that a company should underperform the industry for P/S ratios like Aerosun's to be considered reasonable.

Taking a look back first, the company's revenue growth last year wasn't something to get excited about as it posted a disappointing decline of 12%. The last three years don't look nice either as the company has shrunk revenue by 4.9% in aggregate. Accordingly, shareholders would have felt downbeat about the medium-term rates of revenue growth.

Shifting to the future, estimates from the only analyst covering the company suggest revenue should grow by 57% over the next year. With the industry only predicted to deliver 25%, the company is positioned for a stronger revenue result.

With this information, we find it odd that Aerosun is trading at a P/S lower than the industry. Apparently some shareholders are doubtful of the forecasts and have been accepting significantly lower selling prices.

What We Can Learn From Aerosun's P/S?

Despite Aerosun's share price climbing recently, its P/S still lags most other companies. Generally, our preference is to limit the use of the price-to-sales ratio to establishing what the market thinks about the overall health of a company.

A look at Aerosun's revenues reveals that, despite glowing future growth forecasts, its P/S is much lower than we'd expect. When we see strong growth forecasts like this, we can only assume potential risks are what might be placing significant pressure on the P/S ratio. While the possibility of the share price plunging seems unlikely due to the high growth forecasted for the company, the market does appear to have some hesitation.
