Princeton Digital Group (PDG), Asia's leading data center provider, announced the official delivery of Phase One of its 150MW JH1 data center campus located in Sedenak Tech Park (STeP), Johor. One of Southeast Asia's largest data center campuses, JH1 is PDG's flagship AI-ready facility in Malaysia, serving some of the world's largest technology companies.

Delivered in just 12 months, Phase One comprises 52MW of the JH1 campus and represents PDG's SG+ strategy, enabling seamless infrastructure expansion from Singapore to scalable data center campuses in Singapore, Batam, and Johor.

The JH1 campus features cutting-edge sustainable technologies and next-generation design, including rooftop solar panels for generating renewable energy. In May, PDG secured its first RM1.276 billion (~ USD280 million) green loan for JH1, a significant step toward minimizing resource consumption and emissions in the region's AI infrastructure.

The milestone event was officiated by Datuk Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, Menteri Besar Johor, and Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI).

Tengku Zafrul said, "The delivery of PDG's JH1 data center campus within 12 months reflects Malaysia's investment facilitation speed and MITI's pro-industry, pro-investment stance. Our growing stature as a regional leader in Asia's digital economy, particularly for sustainable data centers, is evident from recent major investment announcements by global tech giants."

Rangu Salgame, Chairman, CEO, and Co-founder of PDG, highlighted the company's execution prowes, "Data centers form the cornerstone of the digital ecosystem, facilitating the seamless flow of data and enabling generative AI. We are appreciative of the Malaysian government's steadfast support, whose proactive policies have played a pivotal role in creating a supportive environment for the industry."

Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), praised PDG's flagship AI-ready facility for cementing Malaysia's status as a premier investment hub for AI data centers. "MIDA's role in attracting top-tier digital investments ensures projects like the JH1 campus contribute substantially to economic expansion, technological progress, and sustainable development," he said.

The ceremony also featured the signing of an energy supply agreement (ESA) with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for the entire capacity of the JH1 campus, following the successful energisation of the first phase by TNB under the Green Lane Pathway initiative.

Asher Ling, Chief Technology Officer and Managing Director of Singapore, PDG, emphasized the company's commitment to expanding in Malaysia. "Delivering Phase One of JH1 is a proud moment for PDG. Beyond economic growth, it demonstrates our commitment to nurturing talent and creating jobs in this rapidly growing industry," Ling said.

In October 2023, PDG was awarded Malaysia Digital (MD) Status, the country's highest recognition for digital companies, showcasing PDG's commitment to developing and growing local talent. Ts. Mahadhir Aziz, CEO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), supported PDG's progress, stating, "This partnership aligns with the Malaysia Digital (MD) national strategic initiative, underscoring our commitment to nurturing talent, driving innovation, and establishing Malaysia as the digital hub of ASEAN."
