Petronas Adds 3 LNG Vessels For Canada Operations

Business Today ·  07/08 22:47

Petronas has expanded its fleet with three new LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) vessels in preparation for the commencement of its Canadian project. These vessels will primarily be used to transport LNG from North America to Petronas's clients around the region.

With the addition of these new vessels, Petronas's fleet dedicated to the North American market now totals six ships. The three new vessels have been named Puteri Sejinjang, Puteri Mahsuri, and Puteri Mayang, all inspired by names of princesses from Malaysian folklore.

Built by Hyundai Heavy Industries at their shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea, each vessel boasts a cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic meters, making them the largest in Petronas's diverse fleet.

Petronas holds a 25% stake in LNG Canada, located in Kitimat, British Columbia. This facility is noted for having one of the lowest carbon emission intensities in the world. Operations at the plant are expected to begin by the end of 2024
