From what we can see, insiders were net buyers in Yum China Holdings, Inc.'s (NYSE:YUMC ) during the past 12 months. That is, insiders acquired the stock in greater numbers than they sold it.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Yum China Holdings

The CEO & Executive Director Joey Wat made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$648k worth of shares at a price of US$46.28 each. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$31.46 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock when an insider has bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Joey Wat.

Joey Wat bought 28.00k shares over the last 12 months at an average price of US$46.27.
