WANBIRU TECHNOLOGY BERHAD (AWANTEC) has announced a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Malaysia, represented by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA). The agreement, effective from today, marks a significant step in enhancing Malaysia's cybersecurity landscape.
The MOU, signed by AWANTEC's wholly-owned subsidiary, Awantec Systems Sdn. Bhd. (ASSB), establishes a two-year collaboration period, extending until 29 July 2026. It may be extended for an additional year if mutually agreed upon.
Key aspects of the MOU include:
- Cybersecurity Development: The collaboration focuses on developing and implementing advanced technologies in cybersecurity.
- Training and Upskilling: Joint efforts will be directed towards new cybersecurity projects that provide training, upskilling, and address industry needs, including creating online learning and job platforms.
- Promotion and Cooperation: Both parties will jointly promote information and activities related to the MOU on their respective websites, subject to written approval for the use of logos and other assets. Additional cooperation areas will be identified as needed.
The MOU also outlines that either party can terminate the agreement with a minimum of 30 days' written notice.
The primary aim of this partnership is to bolster cybersecurity technology and services while fostering talent development to meet industry demands. The MOU is expected to pave the way for more robust cybersecurity measures and contribute to the country's strategic goals.
At this stage, financial implications remain undetermined as a definitive agreement has yet to be executed. However, AWANTEC's Board of Directors is optimistic about the positive impact of this MOU on the company's business.
The MOU does not require approval from relevant authorities or AWANTEC's shareholders. For those interested, the document is available for inspection at AWANTEC's registered office for three months from the announcement date.
This development highlights AWANTEC's commitment to advancing Malaysia's cybersecurity capabilities and enhancing collaboration with national agencies.
