Insiders were net buyers of Yadea Group Holdings Ltd.'s (HKG:1585 ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders bought more stock than they sold.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Yadea Group Holdings

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Vice Chairwoman & CEO Jinghong Qian bought HK$8.6m worth of shares at a price of HK$13.94 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than HK$9.50 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock when an insider has bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Jinghong Qian.

Jinghong Qian purchased 3.77m shares over the year. The average price per share was HK$13.31. Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Yadea Group Holdings insiders own 64% of the company, currently worth about HK$18b based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.

There haven't been any insider transactions in the last three months -- that doesn't mean much. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging.
