Some RTX Corporation (NYSE:RTX) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that insider Philip Jasper recently sold a substantial US$1.4m worth of stock at a price of US$114 per share. That's a big disposal, and it decreased their holding size by 48%, which is notable but not too bad.
RTX Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the President of Pratt & Whitney, Shane Eddy, for US$3.2m worth of shares, at about US$91.19 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$115. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. It is worth noting that this sale was 84% of Shane Eddy's holding.

Does RTX Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. RTX insiders own about US$144m worth of shares (which is 0.09% of the company). Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.

Some RTX Corporation(NYSE:RTX)
