Zhitong Finance learned on August 7th that China Textile Import and Export Chamber of Commerce has announced that the latest data released by Customs General Administration shows that in July, textile and clothing exports fell more than expected with lower base. The export amount of textile and clothing reached 26.8 billion US dollars in the same month, a year-on-year decrease of 0.5% from positive to negative. The main reason for the negative growth of exports is the decline in clothing exports, which decreased by 3.6% compared with the same month last year, while the export of textiles increased by 4%. Preliminary analysis shows that the main reason for the decline in clothing exports is the rapid decline in export prices. In the second quarter, the overall export price of garments decreased by 9.3%, and this downward trend continued into the third quarter. From January to July, the cumulative export of textiles and clothing increased by 1.1% year-on-year, of which textile exports increased by 3.3% and clothing exports decreased by 0.8%.
