AirAsia $AAX (5238.MY)$ has announced a new route to Port Blair in the Andaman Islands, India, further cementing its position as the leading low-cost carrier connecting Malaysia and India. Starting on 16 November 2024, AirAsia will operate three weekly flights to Port Blair, marking the airline's 17th destination in India and its shortest Indian service yet. This new route makes AirAsia the first and only ASEAN airline to offer direct flights to Port Blair.

With this addition, AirAsia enhances its already extensive network in India, which includes destinations like Chennai, Amritsar, and more, with a total of 91 flights weekly. The airline has introduced eight new routes to India in 2024 alone, including Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, and Kozhikode.

Port Blair, located in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and marine life. The city has been a sought-after destination for travellers seeking pristine beaches and clear waters. It is also a popular retreat for Indian tourists and will now be accessible directly from Malaysia, offering travellers a chance to explore the island's historical landmarks and enjoy activities such as kayaking and sightseeing. The Andaman Islands are also home to ancient tribal communities protected by the Indian government.

To celebrate the launch of this new route, AirAsia is offering promotional fares from Kuala Lumpur to Port Blair starting at RM199 one way. These special fares can be booked on the AirAsia MOVE app or airasia.com from today until 19 August 2024, for travel between 16 November 2024 and 25 October 2025. Malaysians are eligible for visa-free entry to India for tourist visits of up to 30 days until 30 June 2025.
