Over the past year, many Floor & Decor Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:FND) insiders sold a significant stake in the company which may have piqued investors' interest. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more beneficial than knowing whether they are selling, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, shareholders should take a deeper look if several insiders are selling stock over a specific time period.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Floor & Decor Holdings

The Independent Chairman of the Board, Norman Axelrod, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$8.5m worth of shares at a price of US$123 each. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$111). So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.
