By 2030, the government plans to replace 6,000 buses with zero-emission models.
ST Engineering has partnered with MAN Truck & Bus SE (MAN) to help Singapore electrify its public bus fleet.
The Land Transport Authority aims to replace half its fleet of approximately 6,000 buses with zero-emission variants by 2030 and reduce emissions from the land transport sector, which accounts for 15% of all carbon emissions in Singapore.
To meet these goals, the partners will develop a low-floor variant of the MAN's Lion's Chassis E, configured with three passenger doors, in line with the latest requirements for public buses.
The solution will feature an advanced driver assistance system powered by ST Engineering's AGIL DriveSafe+ technology.
The AGIL DriveSafe+ artificial intelligence video analytics technology offers accurate monitoring and detection of potential collisions in blind spots, enhancing safety. It is being trialled in select public buses in Singapore.
