Some TD SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE:SNX) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Chief Legal Officer & Corporate Secretary, David Vetter, recently sold a substantial US$2.5m worth of stock at a price of US$123 per share. That sale reduced their total holding by 23% which is hardly insignificant, but far from the worst we've seen.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At TD SYNNEX

Notably, that recent sale by David Vetter is the biggest insider sale of TD SYNNEX shares that we've seen in the last year. So what is clear is that an insider saw fit to sell at around the current price of US$121. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign.

Insider Ownership Of TD SYNNEX

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. TD SYNNEX insiders own 1.5% of the company, currently worth about US$152m based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About TD SYNNEX Insiders?

Insiders sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. And there weren't any purchases to give us comfort, over the last year. But since TD SYNNEX is profitable and growing, we're not too worried by this. While insiders do own a lot of shares in the company (which is good), our analysis of their transactions doesn't make us feel confident about the company. So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it's also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company.
