The Ministry of Digital is collaborating with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) to draft a new policy aimed at helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) adopt digitalisation in their businesses.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo stated that discussions with KUSKOP and other stakeholders took place two weeks ago. "We are all aware that MSMEs fall under KUSKOP's jurisdiction, and we are specifically discussing ways to ensure they can adopt technology in their businesses," he said.
Gobind also highlighted the importance of creating cost-effective conditions for businesses to adopt these technologies. "Secondly, how we can create an environment that guarantees cost-effectiveness for these businesses," he added during a press conference after the launch of the "Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital, and Green Economy on Malaysia's Workforce" study.
He mentioned that recommendations and insights regarding the policy have been shared with KUSKOP and that further steps will be taken. "I hope these discussions can be finalised this month, and by the end of the year, we can make decisions regarding the policy and other related aspects," he said.
The event was also attended by Human Resources Minister Steven Sim and Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.
