CD Projekt ADR (OTC:OTGLY) has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a significant new update on Dec. 10, 2024, coinciding with the game's four-year anniversary.
The company surprised fans with the announcement, especially considering that many had thought the developer had shifted focus to other projects like The Witcher 4 and the upcoming Cyberpunk sequel.
Marcin Momot, CD Projekt's Global Community Director, tweeted: "The team still has some gas in the tank," signaling that more updates are on the way.
The full reveal will take place during a live stream before the update goes live.
In response to fans' questions, Momot confirmed that the update will not include support for the PlayStation 5 Pro or a New Game Plus mode.
"The answer is no," he wrote. "We do have some other cool stuff in the oven and we'll talk about it tomorrow during the stream — we hope you'll like it too! Appreciate the patience."
CD Projekt Juggles Multiple Major Projects
CD Projekt is also working on several other high-profile games. The Witcher 4, known as Project Polaris, has moved into full-scale production, with over 400 developers working on the game.
In addition to The Witcher 4, CD Projekt is also working on Cyberpunk 2077's sequel, Orion, Sirius (a new Witcher game from The Molasses Flood), and its new IP, Hadar.
Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 30 million copies since its release, and the Phantom Liberty expansion has sold over eight million copies.
