After rallying above 20,000 for the first time intraday, the Nasdaq also closed Wednesday at record highs.
The $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ closed up 1.77% to 20,034. This represents the first time its ended the day up 20,000. The $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ was off 0.22% to 44,148. The $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ closed 0.82% higher to 6,084.
$Alphabet-A (GOOGL.US)$ helped pave the way for the Nasdaq's strong day, closing up 5.46%.
While the S&P 500 didn't reach record heights, 19 of its stocks 52-week highs; Twelve reached new all-time highs. This list includes Alphabet, Meta, $Netflix (NFLX.US)$, $Amazon (AMZN.US)$, Deckers Outdoors, $Costco (COST.US)$, Apple, and Service Now.
And on the losing front, $CVS Health (CVS.US)$ reached a new 52-week low.
On Thursday, President-elect Trump will ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
