Markets closed lower on Monday afternoon.
After a light trading day, at 4:01 p.m. ET, the $Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI.US)$ closed down 418 points (0.97%) to 42,473. For the day, $NVIDIA (NVDA.US)$ was the only gainer in the Dow while $Boeing (BA.US)$ led the way in losses, off almost 2%.
The $S&P 500 Index (.SPX.US)$ was down 63.93 (1.07.%) and the $Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC.US)$ led declines (in percentages) on Monday, closing down 235.25 (1.19%).
Tech stocks including $Arm Holdings (ARM.US)$, $Broadcom (AVGO.US)$ and $Micron Technology (MU.US)$ fell more than 1%.
Bitcoin traded above $94,000.
The stock market is open for a full trading session on Tuesday but the bond market is closing early. Both will be closed on Wednesday for New Year's Day.
