Hong Leong affiliated stocks Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd and Hong Leong Industries Bhd, a consumer listing, both advanced 20 sen today to close at RM18.50 and RM14.30, respectively.
Apollo Food Holdings Bhd, meanwhile, surged 33 sen, or 5.18%, to end the day at RM6.70.
Chin Teck Plantations Bhd added 31 sen, or 3.89%, closing at RM8.28.
Semiconductor manufacturer Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd gained 20 sen to settle at RM25.90.
Meanwhile, telecommunications counters Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) and CelcomDigi Bhd were major decliners. TM was the top decliner which shed 15 sen, or 2.21%, to end the day at RM6.65. CelcomDigi was the fifth-ranking decliner on the list which decreased eight sen, or 2.16%, to settle at RM3.62.
Technology listing Vstecs Bhd trimmed 12 sen to close at RM4.04.
Industrial firms Can-one Bhd and Sam Engineering & Equipment (Malaysia) Bhd both slumped nine sen, settling at RM2.30 and RM4.36, respectively. The shares of Can-one lost 3.77% in valuation while Sam Engineering plunged 2.02%.
On the broader market, decliners outnumbered gainers by a slight margin – 515 to 485, while 550 counters were unchanged, and 839 untraded.
The full-day trading volume decreased to nearly 2.41 billion (2,409,182,700) shares/units valued at over RM2.06 billion (RM2,063,359,818), from over 2.55 billion (2,552,581,600) shares/units valued at nearly RM2.09 billion (RM2.085,296,930) recorded on Monday.
