Chinese EV startup XPeng Inc. (NYSE:XPEV) has selected Real-Time Innovations' RTI Connext Drive as the core communication technology for its next-generation E/E vehicle architecture.

Beginning with the 2026 production models, Connext Drive will handle the complex data distribution in XPENG vehicles, advancing the company's goal of developing smarter, more efficient, and future-ready vehicles with cutting-edge technologies.

Connext Drive, based on the DDS standard, is a real-time data management framework that ensures seamless communication between vehicle systems, independent of suppliers.

Its adaptable architecture supports complex systems like ADAS and autonomous driving features, integrating cutting-edge technologies into future models without requiring code rewrites.

Yu Peng, Vice President at XPENG, said, "XPENG required a communication framework that supports a unified architecture across all of our designs — one that could manage the intense data requirements across a diverse range of XPENG models, from high-end to entry-level vehicles."

Yesterday, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Volkswagen AG to build a super-fast charging network in China aimed at expanding charging infrastructure to customers of both companies' EVs.

The over 20,000 charging piles operated by the two companies across 420 cities in China will now be accessible to both players going forward.

Investors can gain exposure to the stock via VanEck Low Carbon Energy ETF (NYSE:SMOG).

Price Action: XPEV shares are up 0.47% at $11.77 at the last check Monday.
