  • U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose 209K in June, falling short of the 225K consensus and sliding from +306K in May (revised down from +339K). Job creation in June trailed the average monthly gains of 278K over the past six months, the Bureau of labor Statistics said Friday.

  • Unemployment rate: 3.6% vs. 3.6% consensus and 3.7% prior.

  • Hiring remained solid in government (+60K), health care (+41K), social assistance (+24K), construction (+23K), professional and business services (+21K) and leisure and hospitality (+21K).
