Here's Why We Think Yelp (NYSE:YELP) Is Well Worth Watching

這就是爲什麼我們認爲 Yelp(紐約證券交易所代碼:YELP)值得一看的原因

The excitement of investing in a company that can reverse its fortunes is a big draw for some speculators, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can manage to find investors. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses. Loss making companies can act like a sponge for capital - so investors should be cautious that they're not throwing good money after bad.

So if this idea of high risk and high reward doesn't suit, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like Yelp (NYSE:YELP). While this doesn't necessarily speak to whether it's undervalued, the profitability of the business is enough to warrant some appreciation - especially if its growing.

How Fast Is Yelp Growing Its Earnings Per Share?

Yelp

Yelp has undergone a massive growth in earnings per share over the last three years. So much so that this three year growth rate wouldn't be a fair assessment of the company's future. As a result, we'll zoom in on growth over the last year, instead. In impressive fashion, Yelp's EPS grew from US$0.55 to US$1.34, over the previous 12 months. It's not often a company can achieve year-on-year growth of 144%.

Top-line growth is a great indicator that growth is sustainable, and combined with a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin, it's a great way for a company to maintain a competitive advantage in the market. The good news is that Yelp is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 3.9 percentage points to 7.8%, over the last year. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in our book.

Are Yelp Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Yelp Insiders

It should give investors a sense of security owning shares in a company if insiders also own shares, creating a close alignment their interests. So it is good to see that Yelp insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. Indeed, they have a considerable amount of wealth invested in it, currently valued at US$191m. This suggests that leadership will be very mindful of shareholders' interests when making decisions!

Is Yelp Worth Keeping An Eye On?
