This Insider Has Just Sold Shares In Informatica

Simply Wall St ·  Nov 12, 2023 07:02

We'd be surprised if Informatica Inc. (NYSE:INFA) shareholders haven't noticed that the Executive Vice President & Chief Customer Officer, Ansa Sekharan, recently sold US$461k worth of stock at US$23.03 per share. That sale was 16% of their holding, so it does make us raise an eyebrow.

Check out our latest analysis for Informatica

Informatica Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the CEO & Director, Amit Walia, for US$1.5m worth of shares, at about US$16.84 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to take some cash off the table, even below the current price of US$23.38. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was only 26% of Amit Walia's holding.

Informatica insiders didn't buy any shares over the last year. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!

Does Informatica Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Informatica insiders own 0.8% of the company, worth about US$52m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Informatica Insiders?

An insider hasn't bought Informatica stock in the last three months, but there was some selling. And even if we look at the last year, we didn't see any purchases. Insider ownership isn't particularly high, so this analysis makes us cautious about the company. So we'd only buy after careful consideration. So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing. While conducting our analysis, we found that Informatica has 2 warning signs and it would be unwise to ignore these.
