Amazon founder Jeff Bezos plans to move from Seattle to Miami, while the company is also looking for office space in Miami.
According to people familiar with the matter, Amazon is looking for about 50,000 square feet (4,650 square meters) of office space. Since plans were not made public, people familiar with the matter requested anonymity.
An Amazon spokesperson confirmed that the e-commerce giant was looking for office space, and said that before Bezos announced its move to Florida, Amazon had already begun searching for office space.
As Miami increasingly becomes a destination for the super-rich and their companies, demand for office space is surging. Many financial and tech companies have moved to the region or expanded their existing footprints, including Ken Griffin's Citadel, Microsoft, and private equity firm Thoma Bravo. According to CBRE, the proportion of office space available now is lower than it was before the 2019 pandemic.
