Albany International Insider Lowered Holding By 36% During Last Year

Simply Wall St ·  Dec 6, 2023 01:01

Looking at Albany International Corp.'s (NYSE:AIN ) insider transactions over the last year, we can see that insiders were net sellers. That is, there were more number of shares sold by insiders than there were purchased.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Albany International Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Senior VP & CTO, Robert Hansen, sold US$390k worth of shares at a price of US$93.60 per share. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$89.39. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern. Robert Hansen was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.

Robert Hansen divested 6.07k shares over the last 12 months at an average price of US$96.21. Does Albany International Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Insiders own 0.9% of Albany International shares, worth about US$25m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

The fact that there have been no Albany International insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. Still, the insider transactions at Albany International in the last 12 months are not very heartening. The modest level of insider ownership is, at least, some comfort.
