Addus HomeCare Insiders Sold US$3.5m Of Shares Suggesting Hesitancy

Simply Wall St ·  Dec 13, 2023 03:37

In the last year, many Addus HomeCare Corporation (NASDAQ:ADUS) insiders sold a substantial stake in the company which may have sparked shareholders' attention. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying versus if they selling is usually more beneficial, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Addus HomeCare Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the CEO & Chairman of the Board, R. Allison, sold US$2.4m worth of shares at a price of US$94.67 per share. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$94.41. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it's not too bad (but it's still not a positive).

Insider Ownership Of Addus HomeCare

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. It appears that Addus HomeCare insiders own 1.7% of the company, worth about US$25m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
