China EV Insurance Registrations for Week Ending Jan 28: Nio 3,300, Xpeng 2,200, Li Auto 8,500, Tesla 12,800

During January 1-28, Nio was 9,900, Xpeng 6,800, Li Auto 27,100, Tesla 35,200 and BYD 168,500.

For the week of January 22-28, Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) sold 8,500 units, continuing to rank No. 1 among China's new car makers, the company said today on Weibo.

As before, Li Auto didn't explain the basis for calculating the weekly sales, but apparently, they were insurance registrations. The company suspended sharing this data in May 2023, but has since resumed sharing it.

Nio (NYSE: NIO) was at 3,300 last week, Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) at 2,200, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) at 12,800, and BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDF) at 43,300.

During January 1-28, Nio was at 9,900, Xpeng at 6,800, Li Auto at 27,100, Tesla at 35,200 and BYD at 168,500.
