The Market Doesn't Like What It Sees From Xinzhi Group Co., Ltd.'s (SZSE:002664) Earnings Yet As Shares Tumble 27%

市場は、新知グループ(SZSE:002664)の収益について見ているものが好きではなく、株価は27%下落しています

The Xinzhi Group Co., Ltd. (SZSE:002664) share price has fared very poorly over the last month, falling by a substantial 27%. Instead of being rewarded, shareholders who have already held through the last twelve months are now sitting on a 21% share price drop.

Following the heavy fall in price, given about half the companies in China have price-to-earnings ratios (or "P/E's") above 30x, you may consider Xinzhi Group as an attractive investment with its 20.2x P/E ratio. Nonetheless, we'd need to dig a little deeper to determine if there is a rational basis for the reduced P/E.

Recent times have been pleasing for Xinzhi Group as its earnings have risen in spite of the market's earnings going into reverse. It might be that many expect the strong earnings performance to degrade substantially, possibly more than the market, which has repressed the P/E. If not, then existing shareholders have reason to be quite optimistic about the future direction of the share price.

Does Growth Match The Low P/E?

The only time you'd be truly comfortable seeing a P/E as low as Xinzhi Group's is when the company's growth is on track to lag the market.

If we review the last year of earnings growth, the company posted a terrific increase of 46%. Still, incredibly EPS has fallen 4.9% in total from three years ago, which is quite disappointing. So unfortunately, we have to acknowledge that the company has not done a great job of growing earnings over that time.

Shifting to the future, estimates from the only analyst covering the company suggest earnings should grow by 27% over the next year. Meanwhile, the rest of the market is forecast to expand by 42%, which is noticeably more attractive.

With this information, we can see why Xinzhi Group is trading at a P/E lower than the market. Apparently many shareholders weren't comfortable holding on while the company is potentially eyeing a less prosperous future.

The Key Takeaway

Xinzhi Group's recently weak share price has pulled its P/E below most other companies. Using the price-to-earnings ratio alone to determine if you should sell your stock isn't sensible, however it can be a practical guide to the company's future prospects.

As we suspected, our examination of Xinzhi Group's analyst forecasts revealed that its inferior earnings outlook is contributing to its low P/E. At this stage investors feel the potential for an improvement in earnings isn't great enough to justify a higher P/E ratio. Unless these conditions improve, they will continue to form a barrier for the share price around these levels.

The company's balance sheet is another key area for risk analysis. Our free balance sheet analysis for Xinzhi Group with six simple checks will allow you to discover any risks that could be an issue.
