Many Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:KEYS) insiders ditched their stock over the past year, which may be of interest to the company's shareholders. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying versus if they selling is usually more beneficial, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Keysight Technologies
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Senior VP and President of Order Fulfillment & Digital Operations, Soon Gooi, for US$4.7m worth of shares, at about US$162 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at around the current price of US$156. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern.
Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Keysight Technologies shares, than buying. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Keysight Technologies Insiders Are Selling The Stock
The last quarter saw substantial insider selling of Keysight Technologies shares. In total, insiders dumped US$6.2m worth of shares in that time, and we didn't record any purchases whatsoever. Overall this makes us a bit cautious, but it's not the be all and end all.
Insider Ownership
Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Keysight Technologies insiders own 0.4% of the company, currently worth about US$101m based on the recent share price. This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
