American electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid announced on Thursday that its CEO Peter Rawlinson (Peter Rawlinson) will receive a $6 million bonus as he led the company to launch the Lucid Gravity electric SUV in November last year.
The company disclosed in a regulatory filing that the board of directors has approved this cash bonus “in recognition of Rawlinson's significant contribution to this landmark achievement.”
Rollinson was the chief engineer of Tesla's Model S project and is currently Lucid's chief technology officer.
Electric vehicle analyst Sawyer Merritt shared the news of Rawlinson's prize on the X platform. Tesla CEO Elon Musk commented: “His pay is inversely proportional to his performance!”
This is not the first time Musk has criticized Lucid's excessive pay to Rawlinson. In September of last year, it was reported that Rollinson received a salary of up to 379 million US dollars in 2022, ranking first in the US auto industry, the vast majority of which were stock rewards. Meanwhile, Lucid's stock price fell by more than 82% in 2022.
Musk commented at the time, “Be careful of companies where leaders' pay is not linked to performance.”
