Have Insiders Sold T-Mobile US Shares Recently?

We wouldn't blame T-Mobile US, Inc. (NASDAQ:TMUS) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that G. Sievert, the President recently netted about US$6.4m selling shares at an average price of US$161. That's a big disposal, and it decreased their holding size by 10%, which is notable but not too bad.

T-Mobile US Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Independent Director, Raul Claure, sold US$25m worth of shares at a price of US$130 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$164, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. This single sale was just 2.7% of Raul Claure's stake.

Insider Ownership Of T-Mobile US

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. T-Mobile US insiders own about US$1.4b worth of shares (which is 0.7% of the company). Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
