Is it expected to fight back with a huge user base?

Next June, Apple will host the World Developers Conference (WWDC 2024), and AI is expected to be the highlight of this conference.

Big

Project Greymatter

According to Goodman, a well-known Apple tipster, Apple is preparing to spend a large part of its time showcasing its AI-related features at WWDC 2024.

What is the core of Apple's AI strategyProject Greymatter, this is a set of AI tools. Apple will integrate this tool into core apps such as Safari, Photos and Notes, and will also include enhanced operating system features such as notifications.

The new features will focus on tools consumers can use in their everyday lives, includingTranscribe voice memos, use AI for retouching, Spotlight search is faster and more reliable, Safari web search improvements, and automatically suggests responses to emails and text messages.

At the same time,Siri personal assistantIt will also be upgraded to make interactions sound more natural, based on Apple's own large-scale language model.

Apple is also planningUsing AI to generate emojisMeanwhile, software is being developed that can dynamically create custom emojis based on the content of users' text messages.

It was also revealed thatAI features that require less computation will run entirely on the device, but if a feature requires more computation, it will be pushed to the cloud.

The features on most devices will be supported by iPhone, iPad, and Mac chips released around last year, and cloud processing will be supported by M2 Ultra chips located in data centers.

Apple has always been known for data security. Regarding cloud processing, which requires sending user information to the data center, Apple said that its cloud-based AI function will still protect privacy.

Huge user base

Goodman commented,When it comes to AI, many of Apple's features will simply catch up and not evolve by leaps and bounds.

Over the years, Google has developed many of the same AI features in its Pixel devices. Samsung also abandoned developing its own AI features this year and switched to Google's Gemini.

Currently, Apple has not developed its own chatbot, and has already negotiated with Google and OpenAI to integrate their chatbot into iOS 18.

According to Goodman,Apple will finally reach an agreement with OpenAI sooner, and their partnership will be part of the WWDC announcement. However, Apple is also reluctant to use OpenAI as a single source for new AI features.

Despite its poor progress in AI, Apple has an unrivaled advantage: a huge user base.

If launched later this year, hundreds of millions of Apple devices around the world will support AI functions, which could make Apple the biggest artificial intelligence player overnight.
