Have Insiders Sold PennyMac Financial Services Shares Recently?

Simply Wall St ·  May 27 06:01

Some PennyMac Financial Services, Inc. (NYSE:PFSI) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the President, Douglas Jones, recently sold a substantial US$2.7m worth of stock at a price of US$91.49 per share. However, that sale only accounted for 5.7% of their holding, so arguably it doesn't say much about their conviction.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At PennyMac Financial Services

Notably, that recent sale by President Douglas Jones was not the only time they sold PennyMac Financial Services shares this year. They previously made an even bigger sale of -US$2.8m worth of shares at a price of US$80.38 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$91.29). As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was only 5.6%of Douglas Jones's holding.
