Tian Lun Gas Holdings Insider Ups Holding During Year

Simply Wall St ·  Jun 5 19:29

Insiders were net buyers of Tian Lun Gas Holdings Limited's (HKG:1600 ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders bought more stock than they sold.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Tian Lun Gas Holdings

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Wai Sheun Or bought HK$1.8m worth of shares at a price of HK$4.84 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being HK$4.19). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. It is encouraging to see an insider paid above the current price for shares, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels. Wai Sheun Or was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

Insider Ownership

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Tian Lun Gas Holdings insiders own 23% of the company, currently worth about HK$926m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
