OpenAI has hired former CEO of community social network service Nextdoor Holdings Inc., Sarah Friar, as its Chief Financial Officer, filling the position that has been vacant for two years in this fast-growing artificial intelligence startup.
The company also announced on Monday that Kevin Weil will serve as the new Chief Product Officer. Weil previously served as a senior executive responsible for product development at Instagram and Twitter.
Expanding its executive ranks comes at an important time for OpenAI, which is working to increase revenue from its AI products by selling services to enterprise customers, as well as adding enhanced voice features to its consumer chatbot app. OpenAI has also begun training more powerful AI models, which may help the company maintain a competitive edge as an increasing number of well-funded rivals seek the same users and business.
"Sarah and Kevin bring a wealth of experience that will enable OpenAI to expand our operational footprint, devise a global strategy for our next phase of growth, and ensure our team has the resources needed to continue thriving," said OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
