Stellantis NV will be recalling more than 1 million vehicles it sells in the US market.

The Zhitong Finance App learned that the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Tuesday$Stellantis NV (STLA.US)$More than 1 million vehicles sold in the US market will be recalled. The main reason for this recall is a defect in the vehicle's rear-view camera, which may cause images to not be displayed properly, increasing the risk of accidents during driving.

The affected models include the 2021-2022 Dodge Durango (Dodge Durango), 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep Grand Cherokee L (Jeep Grand Cherokee L), 2022 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, and the 2022 to 2023 Jeep Compass (Jeep Compass), Grand Wagoneer, and Ram Promaster.

Stellantis plans to address this issue through an online software update, and some affected vehicles have already received this update. Car owners will be prompted to accept the update on the vehicle's media screen. At the same time, they will also receive an official notice of this recall via email.

Although Stellantis has not received any reports of injuries or accidents due to this issue, the company still strongly advises car owners to follow the recall instructions to ensure the vehicle's safety performance and driving safety.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that NHTSA conducted a preliminary assessment of Stellantis's K1 snap ring failure in 2022 RAM 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks a few months ago. NHTSA said that the US Office of Defect Investigation (ODI) has received 82 related complaints relating to the failure of the K1 ring inside the transmission, causing the vehicle to lose power while driving.

Among these complaints, 16 specifically stated that when the speed of the vehicle exceeded 25 miles per hour, the vehicle lost power completely and was unable to resume normal operation. When a fault occurs, the snap ring falls off, causing the forward gear 1 to 4 to fail, which may make the vehicle unusable.

NHTSA also mentioned that FCA, an American subsidiary of Stellantis, has conducted relevant tests and confirmed that in this case, the vehicle will display a warning message to the driver, while the 5th gear and reverse gear can still be used to ensure that the vehicle can move safely to a safe zone.
