Company overview of Takuma <6013>.

c) Lifestyle energy business The company manufactures, sells, maintains, and designs related heat source equipment and systems used in various industries, including production factories of various industries, hotels, hospitals, and commercial facilities, primarily through its group company Japan Therma Energy Co., Ltd. Heat source equipment utilizing non-fossil energy sources, such as biomass boilers that burn wood chips and vacuum-type hot water generators that use hydrogen as fuel, which were announced in April 2023, are being developed to target the burgeoning market for new heat source equipment geared toward decarbonization of society, in addition to existing high-efficiency systems such as hybrid water supply systems that combine heat pumps and vacuum-type hot water generators with even greater energy-saving benefits. By proposing optimal systems according to the needs of each customer under a diverse product lineup, the company aims to maintain and expand the order size in the domestic market, while expanding its overseas business centered on Southeast Asia, supporting people's lives and industries, and contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through the widespread adoption of energy-saving and high-efficiency systems.

In the company's group, Sun Plant Co., Ltd. and Dan Takuma Co., Ltd. design and construct various building facilities, such as air conditioning, plumbing and sanitation, and fire protection. The company also sells and maintains various devices for the semiconductor and electronic device industry, such as clean rooms, chemical filters, and magnetic shield chambers. In the building facilities business, the company aims for steady expansion of order size by creating optimal environments tailored to various applications and conditions by strengthening both sales and construction capabilities through securing and fostering human resources. In addition, in the equipment for the semiconductor and electronic device industry, the company aims to expand its business through customized product development in collaboration with customers and universities to improve product competitiveness and provide products tailored to customer needs through various alliances.

2) Products and Services a) General waste treatment plant (EPC) The company undertakes EPC business by accepting orders for stoker-type incinerators, which efficiently contact garbage and air and can burn even heterogeneous waste stably, biogas recovery plants that ferment organic waste that is difficult to burn, such as non-burning waste, non-combustible waste, and resource waste, and generate methane gas that is used for biogas power generation, and recycling plants that handle bulky waste, non-combustible waste, and resource waste. Under a diverse product lineup, the company also develops new heat source devices that utilize non-fossil energy sources, such as biomass boilers that burn wood chips and vacuum-type hot water generators that use hydrogen as fuel, to target the burgeoning market for new heat source equipment geared toward decarbonization of society. The company also aims for steady expansion of order size in the domestic market by proposing optimal systems according to the needs of each customer, and to expand its business overseas, especially in Southeast Asia where it has Thai local subsidiaries, to support people's lives and industries, and to contribute to a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through the widespread adoption of energy-saving and high-efficiency systems.

a) General waste treatment plant (EPC) A stoker-type incinerator that efficiently contacts garbage and air and can burn even heterogeneous waste stably, a biogas recovery plant that ferments organic waste difficult to burn, such as non-burning waste, non-combustible waste, and resource waste, and generates methane that is used for biogas power generation, and a recycling plant that handles bulky waste, non-combustible waste, and resource waste are collectively referred to as the EPC business and are being developed nationwide. By proposing optimal systems according to the needs of each customer under a diverse product lineup, the company aims to maintain and expand the order size in the domestic market. The market demand to update or extend the operating condition of the several waste treatment facilities that were operating for more than 20 years old is estimated to continue, especially due to the facility aging issue that 60% of the total facility are over 20 years old despite the fact that there are 1,016 facilities nationwide in operation with a daily treatment capacity of 174,646 tons (as of the end of March 2023). Furthermore, new waste treatment facilities that have been built by the DBO method, where public sector finances and design, construction, and operation are entrusted to private sector business operators, are increasing. Waste treatment facilities are expected to have new value creation as disaster prevention centers or energy centers in the region or as features during disaster now.

b) General Waste Treatment Plant (After Service) In addition to the EPC business of creating waste treatment facilities, the company provides waste treatment related services such as maintenance and inspection services, as well as sales of spare parts (After Service business) so that waste treatment facilities will continue to operate safely and stably after construction.

As of the end of March 2023, there are 1,016 waste incineration facilities operating in the country, with a daily processing capacity of 174,646 tons. Of these, approximately 60% are facilities that have been in operation for more than 20 years, despite their lifespan being over. In particular, many facilities built in the 1990s as part of measures to counteract dioxin are coming up for renewal, so the need for renewal or extension is expected to continue for some time. On the other hand, the DBO method is increasing from the viewpoint of utilizing private sector know-how. In addition, not only as a waste treatment function, but also as a disaster prevention center or energy center in the region, new value creation is expected. Design-Build-Operate A method in which a public entity or other organization procures funds and consigns to a private business operator for the comprehensive delegation of design, construction, and operation of the facility.

b) General Waste Treatment Plant (After Service) In addition to the EPC business of creating waste treatment facilities, the company provides waste treatment related services such as maintenance and inspection services, as well as sales of spare parts (After Service business) so that waste treatment facilities will continue to operate safely and stably after construction.

Currently, more than 120 of the general waste treatment plants delivered by the company are in operation, supporting the safe and stable appropriate disposal of waste in the region through regular maintenance, functional improvement, life extension work, and operational management services. In addition, based on the abundant accumulated knowledge, we formulate long-term repair plans, conduct meticulous on-site investigations, and perform maintenance at optimal timing and content. Our engineers with advanced operational management skills fully maximize the function of the facilities and achieve stable operation. In addition, we have established a monitoring base that operates around-the-clock to provide remote monitoring and operational support for DBO, O&M, and other long-term comprehensive operation entrusted businesses and centralized management of plant operation and maintenance data in a comprehensive support system. The real-time aggregation and management of operational and equipment operational status for each facility are carried out.

In order to enhance after-sales service, since 2004, the company has been engaged in remote support for plant operation, and started operating "POCSYS" in 2016, which significantly expanded remote support functions. In 2019, the "Solution Lab" was opened. While monitoring the operating status of each plant (as of the end of March 2024, there are 17 facilities), we support the on-site operation management of each facility, analyze and evaluate the accumulated data, provide feedback for each facility nationwide, and improve plant operating quality and reduce lifecycle costs. We also use a driving simulator to improve driving technology and skills transfer for plant operators. The facility can be operated remotely and can realize stable operation with a small number of personnel during plant operation.

Furthermore, in January 2023, we started operating the after-sales service base "Supply Lab". As many plants delivered by the company become the foundation of social infrastructure and corporate business activities, it is required to exhibit stable performance for a long time. Therefore, we establish a system to stock and supply parts necessary for stable operation of plants through this base, so that customers can use the plant with peace of mind for a long time. The base not only stocks special parts with long lead times that are not stocked as spare parts in customer facilities (boiler tubes, fire bars, etc.), but also allows real-time monitoring of parts inventory status for general waste treatment facilities and other facilities operated by the company. Even if trouble occurs at a facility and the recovery parts are not available at the facility, rapid recovery is possible by supplying parts from this base, preventing the occurrence of unplanned operational stops and realizing a safe business operation for customers.
