We have stated that we will contribute to the construction of next-generation communication networks as a form we should aim for in the information and communication field in the long-term vision “Sumitomo Electric Group 2030 Vision” for 2030. Until now, we have developed various product groups such as optical fibers, various devices, and equipment products based on our strengths in material technology, but we will reorganize as follows in order to strengthen group synergy and systems in the optical equipment business, optimize input resources, and improve our ability to respond to growth fields.
Overview of business restructuring
・Of the SOC businesses, the optoelectronic equipment product business was transferred to us, and manufacturing was transferred to SEOF, respectively
・After the above business transfer, SOC and NTD merged with SOC as the extinct company and NTD as the surviving company
By reorganizing and fusing the technology cultivated by SOC with the sales, development, manufacturing, and technology owned by our company, SEOF, and NTD, we will quickly create new business products in the information and communication market where technological innovation is rapid, and strive to develop the optical equipment business.
