At the closing on the 4th, the total number of rising stocks in the Nikkei average constituent stocks was 168, falling stocks was 54, and unchanged stocks was 3.

On July 3rd, the US stock market was mixed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 39,308.00, down 23.85 points (-0.06%), the Nasdaq Composite Index closed at 18,188.30, up 159.54 points (+0.88%), and the S&P500 closed at 5,537.02, up 28.01 points (+0.51%). At the opening, the labor-related indicators announced in the morning were weak, and the decline in long-term interest rates supported the market. In the short trading session before Independence Day holiday, the market lacked momentum, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell slightly amid a cautious sentiment ahead of the release of the minutes of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting in June and the announcement of the June employment statistics on the 5th. The Nasdaq Composite Index, pushed up by the rise of Tesla and Nvidia, performed strongly and reached a new high.

Although the US stocks rose and fell, the Tokyo market opened with a buying trend with the rise of Nasdaq. The TOPIX core 30 stocks, including large market capitalization stocks such as bank stocks, trading companies stocks, and semiconductor stocks, rose sharply. In the afternoon, a strong move was made to update the all-time high for both TOPIX and the Nikkei average, mainly due to the buying of 225 futures. It should be noted that the all-time high of TOPIX was updated for the first time in 34 years. On the Nikkei average at the closing, it was 40,913.65 yen, up 332.89 yen (+0.82%) from the previous day. The trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 1.6353 billion shares, and the trading value was 4.13 trillion yen. By business type, non-ferrous metals, transportation equipment, banks, wholesale trade, and machinery rose, while fisheries and forestry, other products, securities and commodity futures trading, electric and gas industry, retail trade, among others, fell. In the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market, 59% of the stocks rose, while 35% fell.
